Conversion: Unichip Q

UniQ_2

UNICHIP mapping and Dyno tuning for improved fuel consumption and performance

Modern engine management systems deliberately make it difficult to alter the electronic signals which control the supply of fuel, air and ignition which are an engine’s lifeblood. Fortunately with the latest incarnation of the Unichip piggy-back computer- the Unichip Q - skilled tuners are able to circumvent even the most sophisticated controls, enabling the optimisation of an engine to achieve maximum efficiency. By doing that in real-time (under load on a rolling-road dynamometer) a trained technician is able to plot the perfect map for an engine to follow across any contours, allowing the best of both worlds: economy under light load conditions and maximum performance under full throttle. In broad terms, about 3 120 points can be plotted and altered, each one optimized for that very engine. This is akin, as Unichip inventor Pieter de Weerdt puts it, to supplying a three-piece suit which is tailor-made for an individual engine: petrol or diesel, big or small, Turbocharged, Supercharged or Normally-aspirated. RGMotorsport offers a 1 day service to install and map a Unichip.

Various mapping options including DUAL MAP switch facilities now available (suitable for TORCO / octane boosters)

REASONS TO REMAP UNCHIP AFTER A YEAR /20000KM

RGMotorsport advises that you remap your Unichip every year or 20000km because there are a lot of factors that influence your engines performance with time and mileage. The engines condition changes with carbon build up, wear and tear and the fuel injection system. Unfortunately the Unichip cannot compensate for that. Furthermore the injectors start wearing out and clogging up with grunge from our fuel and carbon build up in the intake. Therefore, we also advise you to get your fuel injectors serviced and cleaned every 50 000km. The fuel quality and characteristics also change from our fuel manufacturers and this has an influence on your engines performance and efficiency which a remap will then optimize again.

When RGM does a remap on your vehicle , we give you a before and after  dyno graph and we check all electronic systems pertaining to engine performance using the latest scan tools and make sure every sensor and actuator is working correctly.

The vehicle is mapped on our 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive dynamometer and we continuously monitor all temperatures and running parameters while running your car. The car is set up to give maximum power when you drive full throttle and we put emphasis on drivability and fuel consumption in the part throttle ranges.

This all adds up to give you a car that runs better than when it came out the factory, even if it has done quite a bit of mileage. We will also advise you on any problems we observe while we are working on your car to ensure that you have the best possible driving experience from your car.

Conversion: RGM/PowerPlug

The RGM/PowerPlug plugs into (and plugs out of) the vehicles standard ECU to unleash your vehicles full potential. The RGM/PowerPlug is a highly developed, reprogrammable piggyback micro computer which works in conjunction with the Engine Management System (EMS) which is fitted to most of the new vehicles available on our market today. to optimise the performance of modern cars without affecting any of the electronic safety parameters built into the engine’s electronic control unit (ECU)

The RGM/PowerPlug interacts with an engine’s ECU to optimize the air/fuel mixture, timing, boost and injector pressures under various loads and driving conditions. This can be done safely as the standard ECU’s have been developed to suit world markets, with wide set tolerances.

Because it has a Unichip piggyback micro computer at its heart, the benefits of the RGM/PowerPlug can be further enhanced for even more power by custom tuning the installation for your vehicle on our 2x4 dyno or 4x4 dyno, or it can be reprogrammed at a later date to take advantage of any additional modifications (induction, exhaust etc.) The RGM/Power Plug can even be fitted with its own exhaust gas and coolant temperature sensors that continually monitor the set values and if necessary alter them to safeguard the engine

Other advantages of the RGM/PowerPlug is the fact that the car can be returned to its original form and that its presence is untraceable in the majority of installations and when removed, your vehicle’s wiring and ECU state will be left exactly as before the RGM/PowerPlug was fitted.
