The Honda S2000 Supercharged Conversion is one of the most aesthetically pleasing. The Vortech High Output Supercharged conversion will add 163kW @ 8500rpm. Torque is up from 208Nm @ 7500 to 343Nm @ 7000rpm. The integrated dual pass air/water Maxflow Power Cooler charge cooler system allows for effective street operation using a closed loop water cooling system with a stand-alone pump, tank and front mounted heat exchanger. The 400m sprint comes up in 13,5 seconds compared to the 15,5 seconds achieved under similar conditions, at reef altitude in a standard car.
Gears on the supercharger unit are helical cut for low noise levels, and the unit is oil-cooled and lubricated by a high pressure oil feed. It features a V-2 SQ SC-Trim supercharger and allows retention of the accessories including Aircon and Power Steering. Unlike some more complex conversions carried out by the Randburg tuning concern, this joint venture between RGM and Vortech in the USA means that the kit arrives in “bolt-on” form with every nut, bolt and washer included. All brackets are made from high-quality B51 aircraft aluminium, and black anodized for a particularly classy look. The pulleys and other contact surfaces are hard-anodized. On a supercharged engine boost pressure is a function of the relationship between the engine’s crankshaft pulley and the one attached to the supercharger input shaft, and in this case boost pressure is fixed at 0,5 bar. Because of this, and the fact that fuel and ignition curves are re-programmed, it is not necessary to remove the cylinder heads and lower the engine’s static compression ratio.
